Letter to editor of The Comet newspaper, published 8th October 2009.

Dear Sir

I think it is disgraceful that the Heritage Foundation’s Director General Stuart Kenny should be singled out for attack through graffiti and in the columns of your newspaper.

It was the Board of the Foundation who made the decision on September 15, with me in the chair, to press ahead with the original street scene scheme, including cutting down the trees in Leys Square. Our media statement after the meeting that day made it clear that it was a Board decision.

The Board reached their decision, having considered a wide range of relevant matters, including the petition, in considerable detail.

It was then up to the officers of the Foundation – and in particular our Director General – to ensure that the Board’s decision was implemented.
